Nachbesprechung
After the group trip the students can be introduced to the outdoor diary (explained in another method document). This is an individual task and does not need to be shared with others.
After working on the outdoor diary, the groups can meet again and make a presentation (10 min max.) with pictures/videos, where they explain their planning process, how the trip went with ups and downs, and what they learned from it.
After the presentations we make a list with tips, tricks and advice we want to give ourselves for the next outdoor activity.
Risiken und Empfehlungen
Recommendation:
During the planning phase of the trip, conduct meetings to discuss equipment, route and emergency plans. Develop and share an emergency / evacuation plan.
Monitor weather forecasts and prepare for unexpected changes. Pack appropriate clothing and gear for various weather scenarios
Have a well stocked first aid kid and ensure participants can handle a first aid scenario should an incident happen.
Plan and pack enough food and water for the entire trip, including emergency rations.
Check and maintain all equipment before going on the trip. Carry repair tools and extra supplies for critical gear
Plan realistic daily itineraries, taking into account fitness levels of participants. Encourage brakes and listen to participants’ physical condition needs.
Educate participants on the “leave no trace” principles. Minimize impact on the environment by packing out all waste and respecting wildlife and vegetation
Bring appropriate shelter for the conditions. Check and set up tents before the trip. Even consider the need for emergency shelters in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Risk: Getting lost. Stay on designated trails, use landmarks, and follow established route plans. Teach participants on how to use a map and compass, and other technologies to find their way in the terrain
**Remember that each wilderness area has its unique challenges, so adapting these recommendations to the specific location is crucial for a safe and enjoyable outdoors experience.
Wissen und Kompetenz der Moderatoren
The facilitator needs basic knowledge and competences on outdoor education.
Im Kopf behalten...
This is a method for beginners, but before using this method, the groups should be introduced to basic knowledge about camping, risks in the outdoors, emergency aid etc.
(We should have this covered in our learning platform, maybe a power point, or a workshop?)
Andere:
Examples:
Grouptrip tasks (use the questions to fill out the form)
List the participants with full name and phone number.
Where are you planning to go? Make a screenshot of the route, mark the route, startpoint, endpoint and camping site. The group also needs to bring a physical map and download maps to their phones.
Describe the terrain you are hiking in.
Estimate time needed for the hike: Ca. 3-4 km/h + 20 min pr. 100 altitude meters.
Risks on the route: Are there any places where it could be difficult to choose the right path? Look for crossing paths etc.
Note the local and regional weather forecast.
Look up the signal map to find out if you have a phone signal on your hike. Are there any spots without a signal? Where?
Make a complete plan for all meals.
Write a shopping list. Make sure it fits the group's budget.
Write your packing list.
Write down common equipment.
Risks: What risks could occur on your trip?
What is your emergency plan for the possible risks?
What fun things can you do together on the trip?
